American Museum of Natural HistoryEducational Programming Strategy
In anticipation of a new building annex (now the Richard Gilder Center for Science, Education, and Innovation) AMNH recognized an opportunity to create a more mediated experience of the museum’s offerings. Our team used a design thinking approach to create three educational programming directions designed to provide visitors with high-value, contextualized learning—both on-site and online. I played the roles of verbal strategist and concept lead within a multidisciplinary team that included a communications designer, ethnographer, and client lead. Our subsequent educational programming for the museum has been lauded by such organizations as 100Kin10 for its work in the STEM field, and can be experienced firsthand at the Gilder Center, designed by Studio Gang.
